This was the absolute best katsu i have ever had in my life. We came as a party of 4 and the wait time was around 30 minutes. I got the rosu curry and my brother got the hire katsu. The rosu is more fatty and melts in your mouth while the hire is more lean. We also got potato croquettes which were also really tasty! I really love the unlimited tonjiru and cabbage! Everything complemented each other so well and the overall experience was unforgettable!

You might think that chain restaurants all taste the same, but it might not apply to SAKU. The main branch in Downtown is way better in quality than this one. This isn’t a good thing because for the same price and the same food options, I actually recommend you go directly to the downtown branch to eat (yes, It’s not even far from the main branch).

The menu at Saku is a masterpiece. Saku not only offers an exquisite dining experience but also includes the added bonus of unlimited salad. Had a great lunch at Saku today. The pork was tender inside and crunchy outside. The cucumber pickle was sweet and sour. The sesame dressing was very good for the cabbage. We went around 11:30am and no line up and had a nice quiet table. The server was attentive. Overall, a great lunch experience.

My second time here and my friend and I shared the big tasting platter. We paid extra to add another serving of rice, salad, and miso soup. We also paid for a side of curry sauce. Omg the food was so good! Everything is deep fried so you'll definitely be in a food coma after but it's worth it. My favorite was definitely the rosa pork loin. It's just so much fattier and yummy! Also loved the cheese and scallops. The salad and peanut dressing was also so good. You get unlimited salad and rice is you spend a min amount.

Order the Hire Katsu and you will not regret about the decision. Will come back! Update: 11/25/2023 ordered the Hire Katsu. Still fairly good. Unlimited soup and shredded cabbage.

Great donkatsu place in Vancouver! Line up is usually long here, so make sure to plan ahead to put your name down on the list on-site, especially for a weekend dinner. Their bottomless cabbage salad & sesame salad dressing is the best, I usually get at least 2 refills every time I go. Katsus are all great, and I would recommend adding an ebi katsu on the side! Everything is great here, the only thing is that it has gotten quite pricey over the years (like any other restaurant), and you can expect about $30-40 after tax & tip / person. Strongly recommended for a group of 6 or less!

-good quality, very bad value- Service, atmosphere, and food quality are good. The ingredients are fresh, and the soup is a tasty standout. The value proposition is crushingly bad. Bottomless soup, salad, rice and rice accessories do not feel worthwhile. The curry sauce side was flavorful but unjustifiable at $9; likewise for the cheese katsu. No funny cheese pull is worth this price of entry. 1.5/5. Saku? MORE LIKE-
